Allen McBride, Project Manager
What's your role, and how would you describe it to us?
I am a Project Manager for Carbon 6 Interiors, serving as the liaison between our design and production teams. I collaborate with our talented designers and clients to bring their visions to life—always keeping budget in mind. One of my primary responsibilities is working alongside our production manager to ensure selections are made on time, align with the production schedule, and are clearly communicated to the assigned subcontractors and vendors.
Knowing every day is likely different can you walk me through what a typical day looks like for you?
Everyday is different, which is one of the best parts of the role, but typically will consist of in-person selections meetings with homeowners in our showroom, or onsite walk throughs dependent on phase of the project. Documentation within our construction project management software is also done in parallel as this serves as one of our key communication bridges between all players involved in the project (designers, production, and even homeowners).
If you could design a room for any fictional character, who would it be and why?
Yellowstone's John Dutton's main lodge two-story great room. What an opportunity and challenge to blend the many natural elements Montana has to offer (wood and stone being two of my personal favorites) and incorporate the picturesque landscape right outside his windows without overshadowing the property's rich history. There would be a little added pressure too, since an unsatisfied client like him might send me on a one-way ticket to 'the train station.'

What's the most memorable client request you've ever received?
We had a client who requested one of Kobe Bryant's tribute photos screen printed onto a wall pad in their Sport Court. It would be impossible not to feel inspired with a mural of The Black Mamba as your backdrop while shooting hoops!
What's your guilty pleasure when it comes to home decor items?
My guilty pleasure would have to be house plants. They're a fun and healthy way to add color and texture to a room, not to mention the small sense of pride and satisfaction you get when they're still alive after a week of ownership. Instead of bouquets of flowers, special occasions at our house now call for new plants, creating the challenge of finding balance between décor and turning our home into the movie set from Jumanji.

What's the strangest place you've ever found design inspiration?
Sitting in a deer stand in the middle of Koochiching State Forest or floating in 14 feet of water with just enough west wind to create the perfect walleye chop. It's amazing where your mind can wander when you have front row seats to Mother Nature's show, whether you're staring at the same trees for hours or waiting for fish that aren't cooperating.
